Good Afternoon Pocasset Families!

My name is Suzette Wordell, Principal of Pocasset Elementary School, and I'd like to welcome you back to our lovely little school! I am beginning my third year as Principal of Pocasset and my 23rd year as a Principal in Tiverton. I'm very proud to be Principal of our wonderful Pocasset School, especially since I was once also a Pocasset student. Please feel free to contact me with any questions or concerns at swordell@tivertonschools.org

Our school secretary is Mrs. Denise Tavares, and her phone is 401-624-6654 and email dtavares@tivertonschools.org. Our school nurse is Denise Duarte. Her email is dduarte@tivertonschools.org and you can call our main office line (401-624-6654) if you would like to speak with her.

School begins on Thursday, September 1 at 8:43 am and ends at 3:23 pm (with Walker Pick-up beginning at 3:20 pm).  Some more important information:

1. Class Assignments: Kindergarteners received their classroom assignments today. All students grades 1-4 have been mailed a postcard with their classroom assignment and should receive the postcard either Friday or Saturday.

2. Optional Student Supplies List: An optional student supplies list can be found here. 2022-2023 Optional Student Supply List for Pocasset

3. Free/Reduced Lunches: For the past 2 years (due to COVID-19), nationally all school districts have had free breakfasts and lunches for all students, regardless of income. However, that universal program has ended and free/reduced lunches will now be determined by financial need. Here in Tiverton, we do not process any free/reduced lunch forms at our building to protect your child's and family's privacy. In fact, we encourage families to submit forms electronically at this link: https://www.nlappscloud.com/Welcome.aspx?sid=1538#loaded. We encourage as many families as possible to fill out these forms, especially since daily full price lunches are $2.75 and daily full price breakfasts are $1.25. Thank you!

4. Bus Assignments: Bus lists will be sent out the week before school begins. At Pocasset, our bus stops are, for the most part, either on Main or Fish Road (with a few exceptions). When the Bus list is published, please look for the closest stop near your house. For example, if you live on Louise Drive, your child's bus stop would be Louise@Fish Road. Please also be aware - for the first two weeks of school the bus runs a little slower until our drivers learn all of the students and families on their routes. Please be patient, especially in the afternoon for drop offs. If you have any bus-related questions, please feel free to call First Student Bus at 401-625-5562.

5. Medication: If your child need to take medication during the school day, you will need to fill out a Medical form and drop off the directly to our office for Nurse Duarte. Here are the forms: TSD_Medication_Administration_Form_-_General   TSD_Medication_Administration_Form-Severe_Allergies

Thank you, and I'm looking forward to starting another fantastic school year with all of you!

Kindly,

Suzette Wordell, Principal        swordell@tivertonschools.org
