Adding Titles

The title designer window will appear, most of the tools work the same way as
they do in Photoshop. We are going to
add a simple credit,
First click the text tool and click in the center of the
layout area. A cursor will appear, type in Video By.
Select the pointer from the tool box, right click the text box and
select Position > Horizontal center.
In the object style box open the fill dropdown click on the swatch
next to color and choose a light yellow color.
NOTE: some forms of pure white will
cause a hum in the audio when played back on a TV, avoid pure white.
Create a new text box bellow the video by box and enter your name.
Set the color like the other text.
Next select the line tool and draw a line horizontally between the
video my and your name text boxes.
The properties for the line are the same as the text, set the fill
to a light red.
The title designer offers lots of ways to enhance your text as
well as templates. Be sure to experiment.
When you are finished close the title designer, you will be
prompted to save your title, Give to a name and save it in the same location as your
project, these titles are separate files like Images in a website. If your
project is going to have a lot of titles then you should make a folder for your
titles.
Your new title will appear in the project bin. To add it to your
project click and drag it to the time line. If the title is to be over video
then add it to the second or higher video track so
that it is put on top of the video, the video tracks are like the layers in
Photoshop. A title can also be placed in
the first video track as a stand alone graphic, great for opening titles and
credits. Titles can also be used to insert a gradient background and to draw
basic shapes. All effects that can be applied to titles can be applied to
titles.
