Exporting for the web

Steps for preparing a project for posting on the web

  1. Text Box: Work Area

Set the work area to the length of the clip you want to export.

By setting the work area you limit what will be encoded for the web.

This is useful if you don’t want the clip for the web to have the bars and tone

or counting leader that the version for tape or DVD need.

The work area is set by dragging the handles on either end in or out.

  1. Click File > Export > Adobe Media Encoder

3.   In the format field select Windows Media, in the preset field select the preset that uses a bit rate that matches the connection speed of the target audience.

This does not apply for video that are going to be viewed locally from a hard drive.

Currently the beat preset for posting on the web is the 256Kbps preset;
it provides acceptable picture and sound quality and still provides a small file.

For are purposes we are going to use the Windows Media Video 8 for local Area Network (256 Kbps).

4. Next we are going to Metadata tab and click add/remove Fields.
For are purposes we are going to add the Title, author, and copyright fields.
Click the check boxes next to the fields you want and click ok.
The selected fields will appear and you just have to enter your text. Enter a title for your video,
your name as the author and the date as the copyright.

5. Click OK at the bottom of the window.  You will be prompted for a name for your modified preset, give it a name and click OK

6. You will be prompted to set a location to save the file to, for are purposes we will save the finished file to My Documents. We will give the file a name in the file name field; in the
Export Range field select Work Area to only export the area you selected in step 1.

7. Click Save. Premiere will render your video.
