A. Get it in the right place!

  1. Create a folder called “Digital Portfolio - Custom”
    (you should have done this in the beginning, check your Graphics II Folder)
  2. Open Front Page
  3. Go to File>New>Page or WEB, choose “New Web”
  4. when the New Web Dialogue box appears,
    1. Browse to folder “Digital portfolio - Custom”
    2. Choose “One Page Web” and click OK

 

B. Create a Header and Link Bar in Photoshop
     OPTION I

1.       Your Header should be 800 by 125 pixels.

2.       Your link bar for the home page should be 475 by 175 pixels.

3.       You should save 2 copies of each:
      A version in Photoshop  (Save AS) for future editing.
      A version for the web (Save for the Web)   in JPEG or GIF format that you will insert into the HTML doc.

OPTION II

1.       Make your total page design as a 800 pixel by 600 pixel image.

2.       Switch to Image ready and use the slice tool to create cell areas.

3.       You should still save 2 versions:
      Save your Photoshop/Image ready file for editing
     Go to File>Save Optimized As, direct image ready to save the image in your Images folder of the DP
          Image ready will save an image file of both the total design and individual slices
         There will be an “Images folder” embedded in Images with the slices

 

C. Build a template

Create a page in your web entitled “Template” or create your design on the Index Page

Set the title as “DP” – in case you forget to change the title as you create pages (NO “new page 1”)

Rule Number 1: No All pages should be built inside a table!
Rule Number 2: All tables should have an exact width (760 to 800) set in pixels

Setting up the Main page:

  1. Paste your header into the top cell
  2. Paste your link bar into the appropriate cell.
  3. Go to Page Properties,
                set background color,
                rollover settings, etc.
  4. Go to Table Properties,
                    set the table width to 800 pixels (or width of header)         
                set the table border (0) cell padding (0) and cell spacing (0)
  5. Go to Cell Properties,
                set the vertical alignment to Top
                set background color of cells if needed
  6. Create BLANK Pages for all your secondary pages.
  7. Use the hotspot tool (View>Toolbars>Picture) to set hyperlinks to BLANK Pages..
  8. Once all links are working, copy total Index (or template page), Paste it into all blank Pages
  9. Go to Edit>Save All
