Chapter 9  - Motion Tweens – Shape Tweens 

 

1.      Open flash.  Change the way the timeline is viewed by switching it to tiny and save it as Flash Ch9a.

2.      Open the word document Flash Definitions.  Define scenes.

3.      Although you will not be using this feature for a while go to Insert>Scene to create a new scene.  Go to Window>Scene to view the created category  Save as Flash Ch9b.

4.      Go back to Page 122 and create a motion tween with a simple circle. Demonstrate onion skinning as described on these pages.

5.      Create a simple frame by frame animation similar to that in pages 126 and 127
Save it as flashCh9c. 5to 6 frames is sufficient. Save as FlashCh9c.

6.      Create a Motion Tween.  Read pages 129 AND 130 but…………………..

Basic guide:

a.       Open a new Movie

b.      Add a object

c.       Go to Insert>Convert to Symbol

d.      Move to the 20th frame

e.       Go to Insert> Keyframe

f.        Reposition the object

g.      Select the first keyframe and go to Insert>Create Motion Tween

h.      Go to Control>Play

 

Save as FlashCh9d









Create a Motion Guide Read pages 131 to 134 but…………

The Guide below is better
Step 1
Choose Window > Common Libraries > Graphics. Select the image you want to use. In this example we have used a blue mouse. (use what you want)

Step 2
Click on the image and drag it outside the left edge of the Stage.

Step 3
Go to Frame 40 in the Timeline. Do this by clicking the gray field below 40. Then right click in this field. Choose Insert Keyframe. Keyframes appear as circles in a frame. This operation duplicates the image. 

Step 4
Click on the Timeline any place between Frame 1 and Frame 40. Then right click and choose Create Motion Tween.

Step 5
Right click on Layer 1 (Click on the layer name, where it says "Layer 1"). Choose Add Motion Guide in the pop-up menu. The Flash program will now insert a motion guide layer on top of layer 1. Motion guide layers are used to draw lines an animated symbol should follow.

Step 6
Click on the Motion Guide Layer to make sure it is the active layer (Click on the layer name, where it says "Guide: Layer 1").

Step 7
Click on the Pencil tool in the left toolbox. Set the Pencil Mode to Smooth (in the Options section of the left toolbox).

Step 8
Draw a line. Begin on the image and draw a line to the other side of the Stage.

Step 9
Go back to Frame 1 in the Timeline. Click on the Arrow tool in the left toolbox. Select the "Snap to Objects" button in the Options section of the left toolbox.

Step 10
Place the image with its center on the beginning of the motion guide (the black line you have drawn with the Pencil). The center of the image shows as a +. A black circle appears when the image is snapped to the motion guide. Release the mouse button when the image is snapped to the guide.

Step 11
Go to Frame 40. Place the image with its center on the end of the motion guide.

Step 12
Choose Control > Test Movie from the top menu to test your Flash movie

Save as Flashch9e

 

 





 

 

 

Shape Tweening

 

1.Set up a shape tween that turns a letter or number into a different one
   Follow the Steps on page 135 and 136. Save as FlashCh9f

 

7.      Basic guide:

a.       Open a new Movie

b.      Add a character to the stage

c.       Go to Modify>Break Apart

d.      Move to the 20th frame

e.       Go to Insert> Keyframe

f.        Type in a new character

g.       Go to Modify>Break Apart

h.       Reposition the object

i.        Select the first keyframe and go to the Property Inspector

j.        Select the Tweening Tab and choose Shape Tween

k.      Go to Control>Play

 

8.      Repeat the process above adding shape hints as shown on Page 137.  see if there is any difference Save as Flashch9g.

9.      Create a Tex block and animate it similar tho the example shown on page 138.  Save it as FlashCh9h.

10.  Create an “exploding word” effect shown on page 139 and 140. Save as FlashCh9i
