FIELD TRIPS AND CLASS ACTIVITIES During the school year you will be given the opportunity to go on several field trips or participate in class activities. You are fortunate that your team of teachers make the arrangements and take responsibility for your well being. Each team has established a criteria for participation. It is the responsibility of the student to meet this criteria. On a field trip we expect you to enjoy the learning experiences that we could not provide for you in the school building. While you are away, your conduct is a reflection on our school and town. Although we would like all students on the team to participate in these special events, unfortunately, there are some people who will not be allowed to attend. They are students who require an exceptional amount of supervision or those students whose presence and behavior might interfere with the enjoyment of the field trip by other students. Past performance and previous discipline activity will be considered in these decisions. ACTIVITY/TRIP PROCEDURES Teams will follow the established criteria for the year for activities and field trips. The criteria is such that it allows the student that misses one activity or trip to be eligible for another. Team notifies student and parents when the student does not meet the criteria for an activity or field trip. Team will send notification regarding students not eligible for participation to main office. Team will arrange coverage with proper notification to affected staff to work with those students that will not be participating in trip or activity. CRITERIA FOR FIELD TRIP EXCLUSION: 1. Suspension (within the term) 2. In-House suspension (within the term) 3. Skipping detention 4. Chronically unprepared/Refusing to work 5. Inappropriate behavior 6. Disrespectful to staff 7. Poor behavior on prior field trip
