Principal's News

The 2005-2006 school year is off to a busy start.  We have welcomed 30 new students to the TMS student body and several new teachers to our staff!  We began the year with our annual Open House.  It was a great success with over 350 people attending.  Please take a minute to read over our volunteer list.  We are always looking for more parent involvement.

The New England Compact Assessment Program (NECAP) is the name given to the RI state testing program for all students in grades 5-8. There are 3 sessions of testing; reading, math and writing. Tiverton Middle School will be judged based on student performance on the NECAP. TMS is a high performing middle school and has been for 3 years. We would like to maintain this high level of academic achievement therefore it is vital that all students participate in the testing. Please discuss with your child the importance of taking each testing session seriously and doing their best on each one. We thank you for your support.

As you are aware by now, we had some issues with our Unified Arts schedule. It took a tremendous amount of work and time to fix the problem. Unified Arts classes were adjusted and students were rescheduled. All academic classes remained the same. If you have any questions, please contact your child’s guidance counselor. I thank you for your understanding & patience while we worked through our problems.
