STUDENT DIRECTORY INFORMATION

       The Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA) requires that school districts designate certain types of student information as student “Directory Information” that can be disclosed without parents’ prior consent.  This information is considered to be general information that would not be harmful or invasive if disclosed in school publications, such as school and district newsletters, yearbooks, the Tiverton Public Schools website http:\\www.tivertonschools.org, and to newspaper and television media. 

 

    The Tiverton School Department has designated the following as student “Directory Information” that may be disclosed in school publications and to newspaper and television media:

         *Student Name                     *Participation in School Activities and Sports

         *Photograph                         *Weight and Height of students on high school sports teams

         *School Student Attends      *Honors and Awards Received

         *Grade Level                         *Major Field of Study                        *Dates of Attendance                                            

 

    Additional “Directory Information” that may be released to military recruiters or institutions of higher education:     *Address     * Telephone listing         *E-mail   *Date and place of birth

                               If you do not want the Tiverton School Department to disclose any of the above Directory Information or information to military recruiters, without your prior consent, you must sign the PARENTAL REQUEST FOR NON-DISCLOSURE OF STUDENT INFORMATION FORM.  This form is available in the Main Office, Guidance Office or downloaded from www.tivertonschools.org.
