Credit System
|
Classes are scheduled on a six-day
cycle. Credits are assigned to subjects according to the number of times
the class meets per week and per year. A class which meets daily (Monday
through Friday) for a full year earns five credits. Five credits equal
one Carnegie Unit. Both half-year subjects and those subjects that meet
three days in a six-day cycle for a full year earn half the credits of a
full year course that meets daily. The school year is divided into four
quarters for grading purposes.

Grouping and Class Rank
|
English, science, history, and
math classes are grouped homogeneously. Grouping is based upon test
results, past achievement, and teacher recommendation. Each class is
assigned a level for ranking purposes, depending upon the level of
difficulty of the course. Standards have been set to categorize each
class to a level. Elective courses and non-academic classes are grouped
heterogeneously.
There are four levels of instruction; Level I, Level II, Level III.
In determining class rank, given a specific letter grade, Level I
courses carry more weight than Level II and Level III, in that
order. A grade of "A" is weighted as follows:
|
| |
| Level |
Point Value |
| Level I |
4.33 |
| Level II |
4.00 |
| Level III |
3.66 |
|
|
A student's weighted Grade
Point Average (GPA) determines rank in class.
Class rank is computed at the end of six semesters and again at the end
of seven semesters.
