Marla J. Schreffler
(Nationally
Certified School Psychologist)
With
specialized training in both the fields of psychology and education, the
school psychologist provides support to the school system in several
capacities. As part of a multi-disciplinary special education team, the
school psychologist provides assessment of learning aptitudes,
personality and emotional development, and assists in determining
eligibility for special needs services. Additionally, the school
psychologist engages in intervention activities including
assistance in helping students with adjustment difficulties and
behavioral management issues. The school psychologist is also an
integral member of the school’s Crisis Intervention
Team,
providing consultation in critical situations that occur in the school
setting that affect the safety and welfare of the school community. The
school psychologist works actively in the field of prevention,
helping to design programs that help foster a positive, safe learning
environment such as through the Peer Helping
Network.
