The Requirements:

 

1.      All students graduating form Tiverton High School are required to complete 75 hours of community service.

2.      Students can carry a maximum of 60 hours from 7th and 8th grade community service. A minimum of 15 hours must be earned while in High School. A maximum of 60 hours can be earned during any one year during high school (except during senior year).

3.      All students participate in community service workshops and complete reflection essays in English classes as part of their graduation requirement.

4.      Students doing community service as part of a court-mandated program will receive school credit for half of those hours.

5.      Students wanting to do community service for an individual (such as helping an elderly neighbor, etc.) must receive prior approval from the Community Service Coordinator.

6.      Community service can not be done with a for-profit business.

7.        Babysitting for individual families will not count for community service credit.

8.        All seniors must have 50 hours of community service credited to them by the beginning of senior year to be eligible for senior lounge.
