At T.H.S., the Architecture
program has always been one of the
most successful programs in Technology Education.
Many of our graduates have earned scholarships from
neighboring colleges and technical schools.
In the first-year architecture class, students will learn the
complete planning and design of residential building projects, such as a small
garage/workshop and/or a one-story house.
Some of the material covered will include choosing a house lot,
contractor, floor plans and elevations.
Each student will also produce a full set of working blueprint drawings
and a balsa/scaled framed model of their project. Using prerequisite skills, advanced students will focus on architectural projects that develop individual
creativity. Projects will include a
“dream home” such as a log or vacation home.
Cost estimation of a building project will also be covered. Computer software (3-D Visual Home Suite for
Windows) will also be used perform “walk through" projects.
