Description
One of
the great contributions a quality art program can make is that it can
encourage problem solving skills and the use of imagination. Often it is
one of the few subjects that stresses individuality.
A primary function function of the school is to cultivate the
intelligence; the art program should be taught in a manner to develop
human potential.
Not only should art be a program of making and doing, but deciding,
interpreting, looking, searching, and feeling. Four areas must come
together for our students to be truly literate in art. The areas of art
history, aesthetics, art criticism must all accompany the making of art so
that the experience in the classroom can be a true learning experience.
We hope to provide a spiraling and overlapping of concepts, and
experiences that will develop skills and a sound body of knowledge in our
students 9 thru 12.
