Strings Directed by Mrs. Gael Berberick
The Strings Program is in its ninth year and the orchestra is quickly thriving. The string ensemble is made up of students from the Fort Barton, Pocasset and Walter E. Ranger Elementary Schools. The students are introduced to these instruments as fourth graders, and the school department has now included classes for these students at both the middle school and the high school. Members of the orchestra have a concert every December, March, and May/June. The string orchestra has performed at the Tiverton Senior Citizens Center and the Sakonnet Bay Manor, as well as performing for the Middle School Teachers at their Teacher Appreciation Day luncheon buffet. Students spent a lot of time preparing music for their audition for All-State at RIC on November 18. Come the spring, these young musicians will prepare more music to perform at the RI Music Educators Solo and Ensemble Festival in May. Some will also represent Tiverton at the Rhode Island String Teachers Association String-Fest in June as they have for the past six years. Current Members:
