Text Box: Spring in Art Class!
· Pattern, color and texture!  First graders are hard at work on their Vincent van Gogh inspired “Sunflowers”.  Detailed pattern vases and beautifully blended flowers make these vases unique!  We will soon be exploring texture, as we look at the illustrations of one of our favorite authors and artist, Eric Carle.
· Romare Bearden, one of the most famous collage artists of the 20th century, is the inspiration for second grade cityscape collages.  Second grade students will be exploring the art of collage, and experimenting with color mixing with oil pastel.
· Fourth grade students will also be looking at the artwork of Romare Bearden and creating music collages.
· Third grade students are drawing and painting Jazz music!  Famous Jazz musician Duke Ellington, and artist Paul Klee are introduced in this very fun lesson about expression, line, and design.  Third grade students will learn to create rhythm, movement and emphasis in an abstract artwork.
· In cooperation with The Tiverton Art Council, selected student work will be exhibited in Tiverton Town Hall.  Each elementary school will be highlighted at different times starting in March.  Walter E. Ranger School is currently displayed, and will be up until April 25th.  The Pocasset School will be exhibited in the middle of May, and Fort Barton will be displayed in the middle of June and will remain over the summer.   If you have a chance, please stop in a see the creative masterpieces on display!
              Happy Spring!               Artfully,                        Miss Daglieri

Community Service Day
Saturday, April 12, 2008 9:00 A.M. to 12:00 P.M.
Volunteers will assist with the planting of ground cover and small shrubs on the “NEW” Ranger School grounds.  To lend a hand with this project, you will need to bring your own garden tools and wear proper attire, including gloves. Return this sentence circled and your child will have a chance to earn extra recess for his/her class. This is a great way for older siblings to gain community service hours.  Please meet us in the parking lot at 9:00 a.m. sharp!
