Title: COLLECTIVE BARGAINING – REPORT OF PREVIOUS MEMBERS
Understanding that the collective bargaining process is an on-going one that considerably effects the financing and administrative ability of the school department, the School Committee must strive to be as knowledgeable as possible during this process. With many contractual provisions having been negotiated as starting points for further consideration or development, an understanding of the strategy and intent of previous School Board members could be invaluable to the current Board.
Upon entering the negotiation process, the current School Committee shall request that board members that have served within the previous eight years attend a special School Committee meeting for the purpose of offering suggestions and insight into the development of the contract provisions in an attempt to have the current Board better prepared for negotiations. This request shall be in writing to the last known address of the School Committee members. The School Committee would be well advised to as well request the input of former Superintendents in this process.
