What is Career and Technological Education (C.T.E)?

Career and Technological Education is an opportunity for students to explore different career fields of interest while earning college credits and industry-specific credentials. Each C.T.E. program follows a specific 3 or 4-course sequence. In addition, students earn over 80 work-based learning hours through our partnerships with such industry leaders as NUWC, Hit the Web, American Safety Programs and Training, the Tiverton Police Department, and Brookdale Sakonnet Bay Assisted Living. Students regularly participate in service and industry projects, internships as well as apprenticeships. In addition to these experiences, students can earn college credits through our partnerships with the University of Rhode Island (URI), Rhode Island College (RIC), and the New England Institute of Technology (NEIT).

The decision to admit a student is made jointly by the Tiverton High School CTE Application Committee composed of the CTE program teachers ,the CTE Coordinator, and administration.  The committee takes into account the student’s education and discipline records, written application answers, and overall passion to be a part of the program.  Admissions to the program follows the Tiverton High School System non-discrimination policy, which states: The Tiverton School System does not discriminate on the basis of race, color, national origin, sex, disability, or age in its programs and activities and provides equal access to all sponsored programs and activities.

Additionally, the lack of English language skills of national minority persons will not be a barrier to admission and participation in education and extra-curricular programs. We provide equal access to all sponsored programs and activities.
