Our Latest Faculty Focus

Our "Faculty Focus" allows the community to meet our teachers both in and outside of their classrooms, through a series of questions.

Meet Ms. Lees - Fort Barton Elementary School

TSD: What would the students be surprised to find out about you?
Ms. Lees: "I was on national TV last year! HGTV was filming an episode of House Hunters in Newport. They filmed me giving a surf lesson to the “house hunter” at Second Beach."

TSD: What inspires you?
Ms. Lees: "My students inspire me. I love to see them excited and eager to learn."

TSD: In which other teacher’s class would you like to enroll, even for a day? Why?
Ms. Lees: "I would enroll in Kirsten Blanchette’s 4th grade class at Ranger. In Fall 2013, I completed my special education student teaching in her co-taught classroom. It was a great experience being in her room that semester and I learned so much that I now implement with my own fourth graders. "

TSD: What’s a school sport or activity you enjoy watching?
Ms. Lees: "Last year, we did the Color Run at Fort Barton and teachers had the opportunity to participate with their students. We all had a blast."

TSD: How do you think students will remember you and your class?
Ms. Lees: "I think my students will remember me for always trying to make learning fun for them. My mission is for students in my classroom to enjoy school."

TSD: Is there a quote or saying that you live your life by?
Ms. Lees: "If you asked my students, I think they would quote me saying, 'do your job' or 'teamwork makes the dream work.' These are my mottos in the classroom."
