Rhode Island State Assessment

New England Common Assessment Program

The New England Common Assessment Program (NECAP) Exams will be given to students in grades 3-8, and 11.  They are used to measure student achievement towards the Rhode Island Grade Level and Grade Span Expectations (GLEs and GSEs), which specify what students should know and be able to do at different grade levels.

It is required that all students participate in state testing.  Please plan vacations accordingly and avoid absences and tardies during these dates.  Your child's score is important to our school and district score.  School and district performance is linked to state and federal funding.  Your cooperation is greatly appreciated!

For information on how Tiverton schools perform on the state assessments visit the RI Department of Education InfoWorks site.
